#1 Opening thread post.
I cant help but get annoyed when playing Mario Kart Wii on 150cc. Whilst the other two settings were fairly easy 150cc just seems ridiculous to me.

Its not that its too hard either....its the fact that i just feel continuously cheated. Blue shell after lightning, after a ink, after a bullet up my a*** ...its just ridiculous!

I find the only way to have a chance of winning is to sit back in the middle of the pack until the very last lap, and hope to god i can get a decent powerup.

Does this annoy anyone else? I want to win based on my racing, but its just impossible to do!!

Maybe you're just crap? Wink

Nah but as you know I haven't got this game yet but from past experience haven't all the MK games been like that to some extent? The only version I think that wasn't so bad was the DS version. That one if you get far in front you can usually stay there, mainly because the people behind don't constantly keep getting blue shells etc..

But most of the other versions I remember are just as you are describing..

Its worse than the DS version, because of the additional racers this time :(

Its the same story in online too i find...If i race with 6-7 others, i end up coming in at 1st or 2nd. Bump that number upto 8-12 and LOL. my wii-mote ends up being launched across the room in a fit of rage!

Tell me about itStern Smile

Anyway, I feel the same way sometimes, but it's not constantly. More often that not though =/

While I cant exactly prove that it cheats, as far as I know, it does. I don't think it's necessarily about items though - that, I think, is just bad luck. Veeeery baad luck.
Still, as far as I know the CPU in 150cc uses common racing game AI cheat called "rubberbanding" (that is also used in most if not all Mario Kart games before, you can check additional info about it from wikipedia for example) that gives the AI significant speed boost when they are falling too much behind.

I guess I still have to symphatize for you for those ever lasting shell bombings and stuff though : I guess anyone who has even tried 150cc has felt the same way about them.

Personally, I've felt those CPU racers have some kind of conspiracy going on - they know when someone of them has or is about to get a lightning or something else that could possibly wipe out shells or bananas defending you - and then they all attack you with all the green, red and blue shells they have. That is very frustrating.

Well, it's just the way it's programmed. It's meant to keep you on the edge on every race, but it ends up failing because the advantage given to the CPU is too much.

Has been like that in all Mario Karts but they overdid it with Mario Kart Wii.

The Cpu cant cheat but it does know more than we do. One such thing would be in 150 cc to wait to fire your best weapons untill the last minute, say just before the finish line on the last lap. Although I got to admit Id feel better about myself when I lost, if the computer cheated as aposed to my lack of knowledge.
